The School has an Admission´s Policy for Pre-school, Elementary and Middle and High School. Applicants for admission should not have two or more years above the age required for the course, therefore the following scale should be taken into account:

Admission Process

To carry out the Admission process, the following steps are carried out:

 

  1. Parents complete the application, attaching the required documentation. The Academic Council studies the application for admission and its respective documentation.
  2. The process to study of applications for admission and validation of required documentation is carried out.
  3. Parents are asked to come in for an admission interview with our Counseling Department.
  4. Students are asked to come in for the admission placement exam that includes individual follow-ups, academic tests and psychological tests. This step does not take place for admissions from Infants to Toddlers.
  5. Academic and psychological reports are shared with the Admission’s Committee to make a decision regarding the student’s admission.
  6. Parents are asked to come in to provide feedback on the process carried out and its results.
  7. In case of admission, parents are called to complete the enrollment process.

    How can I know if there is availability for my child in Colegio Hebreo Union?

    November-December and May-June. In the first period, admissions are received in January or August, and in the second period admissions are in August.

    The availability of space is subject to the size of the class you wish to enter

    What level of English should my son have?

    Subjects in English are first introduced in Pre-kinder. Nevertheless, we receive children with little fluency in the language, however they must receive support  at home to improve their performance.

    What values are taught in school?

    Starting in Infants our students learn values, which are part of the core of the Jewish Department.

    What is the schedule of the school?

    Infants: 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

    Toddlers and Nursery: 8: 00a .m. – 12:00 pm.

    Pre-Kinder:7:00 a.m. – 12:00 pm.

    Kinder:7:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm.

    1st Grade:7:00 a.m. – 1:30 pm.

    2nd to 6th Grade: 7:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. (Monday).

    7:00 am. – 2:45 p.m. (From Tuesday to Friday).

    7th to 12th Grade: 7:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. (Monday to Thursday).

    7:00 am. – 2:45 p.m. (Friday).

    Which is the schedule of the Extracurricular Activities?

    The schedules vary depending on the desired activities. These schedules are available on the school´s website.

    How is the school year to which my child should apply be determined?

    The school year depends on the of age established until August 31 of the year to which your child wishes to enter. The admission test is also an indicator of the suggested level to which the child can enter.

    Does the school offer institutional transportation?

    CHU has no school transportation route. We can suggest recognized companies that provide this service to other students.

    How long is the admission process?

    The admission process begins once all documents have been delivered completely in our admission office, afterwards we will schedule an appointment with our counselors as well as academic evaluations with the prospective student. The admission process usually takes two weeks to review all results and parents will be notified of our decision after one week.

    When should I submit an application for admission?

    The documents will be received when there is availability. This information is offered through our Admissions Department.

    Will my child have to belong to a particular religion?

    CHU belongs to the Jewish Community in Barranquilla, which is why it teaches Jewish and Hebrew culture, however we welcome children of all creeds: as long as they respect our culture and traditions.

    If my child has any academic difficulty or requires therapeutic support, can he start studying at CHU?

    CHU’s admission committee determines a student’s admission, after carefully reviewing their documentation and support materials (if needed). In case the required material is not available to support the student, they would not be admitted.
